Backyard Fun

One of the reasons blog updates are slower these days is that there is not a lot of new stuff going on. Most days with Waylon are pretty much the same. Whenever we are home, we're in the backyard letting our wild child run amok. He has some serious toddler energy and loves to be outside. The first thing he does when we come home is go to the back door and say "oww" (out), which I prefer to his other favorite thing, which is watching baseball on TV.

Waylon chills on his outdoor toy with his sippy cup. Note the straw. According to his developmental evaluator, kids should use the straw sippy cups instead of the bottle-style ones to promote better muscle use in their mouths, which helps them speak better. Who knew? Would've been nice to get that info before we bought no less than 15 of the "bad" sippy cups! Aaron attempted to jimmy-rig a straw sippy from one of our evil bottle-style ones. Needless to say, I had to make a quick trip to Babies R Us for the "good" sippys. Clearly earth-shattering events going on at the Davis household.Getting ready to conquer the slide. Since he's moved up to the Toddler 2 class at school, Waylon's sliding skills have really improved. He now gets to play on the "big kid" outdoor toys, and his new independence is showing through.
We have no idea how this started, but a few weeks ago when Waylon was playing T-ball, he started puting the bat between his legs and rubbing his hands together between "at bats" as though he's adjusting his batting gloves. Aaron thinks he got this from watching Derek Jeter in too many Yankee games while he eats dinner.
Waylon is usually pretty protective about his bachelor pad, but on a few occasions he has allowed daddy inside, which makes for a pretty tight fit.
Of course once daddy was inside, Waylon bailed leaving Aaron alone and very sad.

The old ladies rest between Waylon attacks. Just today he learned that they wear collars so he was "walking" them both around holding on to them, but once he had them under control, Waylon had no idea what to do with his doggies. These poor, old beagles cant decide if they like the attention or just want to be left alone.
Waylon is always laughing when daddy is around!

Showing off his cool-guy shirt.
