Waylon Turns Four!!!

Its amazing to realize that this wonderful little person has been in our lives for four years. Having a child makes you appreciate mother nature's sense of humor. She must have put some thought into creating children. They start off so cute and helpless, but sort of alien looking. Then they sit, crawl, walk and just act ridiculously cute to the point that you cannot imagine their adorableness is real. Then they are two. You want to yell, scream, cry, and throw things at the wall. Your sweet, adorable little human is now back to an alien, but not so helpless and not so cute. Slowly but surely you all (parents and kids together) muddle through the pain and suffering to arrive at...four.

Waylon definitely has his moments (lots of them) but he also understands when he messes up, and can be reasoned with so he will actually stop acting like a total troll. He makes my heart burst, and I am so proud to be his mom. The best part is watching Waylon with his baby sister. He is so genuinely sweet and loving to Avalon that it absolutely melts my heart. I know they will fight a lot in the coming years, but I hope that he holds on to that sweetness that makes him such a special little guy.

Waylon is a VERY healthy boy that physically looks like his Opa Fred (the former linebacker). At his 4-year appointment he was in the 95th percentile for height (43") and weight (45 lbs), and he fits into size 5T and 6 clothes. He loves to eat almost everything, but does not like to drink milk. Waylon still hates to go to bed and "the process" of getting him into bed takes forever. He can be so shy, but with us he acts like a total ham, and keeps us in stitches. He is not into art, singing, or writing, but instead wants to be active and play make believe games. His first love is TV so we need to work hard to keep him from watching too much. He also loves books--either flipping through pages, or having us read to him. Waylon has moments when he blows me away with his insight and I am sure he is a genius, and other times when he cant seem to recall a single thing he did at school. Time will tell whether he will love academics, sports, or something else. I cant wait to see how my little guy evolves.

Waylon had many birthday celebrations, including cake and cupcakes for several nights. Here is just one of many celebrations. I believe this was actually taken on his birthday.

Waylon's gifts were spread out over several days.
Here he gets one of the gifts he has been asking for---Legos! Look how happy it made him.
Luckily Aaron loves the nostalgia of Legos and helps Waylon build items. I get too frustrated with all of those pieces.
