Eight Months

We are officially two-thirds of the way through Waylon's first year. Things are slowing down and we're not seeing the massive changes each day, but Waylon still keeps things hopping. The big event this month was Waylon's scooching forward. He is really starting to motor pretty quickly and can get across the room, but he is usually distracted along the way by fun and exciting toys such as plastic hangers or my shoes (of course he loves these things much better than his actual toys). Waylon also got his 2 top teeth this month and is enjoying mommy and daddy's startled reactions when he chomps into us. Sadly, it already looks like Waylon will be dentally-challenged. We keep joking that his teeth look like an Englishman's and he'll probably talk with a Cockney accent to match his chompers. We are considering starting an orthodontia fund rather than a college fund.

The new teeth caused other challenges, and when they were coming through it caused some night wakings, but that seems to be under control...for now. Waylon sleeps about 10 to 11 hours at night and still takes 3 naps, which are usually pretty short. The problem is that between his feedings and 3 naps, its impossible to leave the house without disrupting his routine. Thus, its time for us to push towards 2 longer naps--but that is probably easier said than done, especially with daylight savings coming this weekend. Whoever decided to screw with the clocks by an hour twice a year clearly did not have an infant at home.

As for his eating, Waylon eats much better than his parents and only has organic vegetables and oatmeal. He eats pretty well, but did not initially like avocado. I was devastated that my son might not like guacamole. However, he seems to be developing a taste for it afterall.

Its fun to see Waylon's personality come out. He is just starting to get a little upset if you take away something he enjoys playing with (like electrical cords or sharp objects). He is a pretty fun little guy when he is not constipated, teething, or tired. We always love visitors, and Waylon usually gets over his stranger anxiety pretty quickly. Please come visit soon!

This is Waylon's super model pose. He does it all the time, and often adds a bent knee. He looks like he is going to sit up, but never does. He holds this pose for several minutes as though posing for GQ Baby.
Waylon is still only scooching around, but he gets up on all fours a lot and rocks back and forth. I guess "real" crawling is coming soon.
Waylon bundles up for our evening Baby Boot Camp sessions. If only I could figure out how to get him to keep mittens on his hand. Aaron is sure he is going to get frost bite one of these chilly San Clemente evenings.
Waylon behind bars. The question remains, do the gates in our house exist to keep the beagles out or to keep Waylon in?
Waylon thinks Aaron is the funniest person in the world. He laughs all the time when daddy is around, and he finds sneezes, hiccups, and flying games especially hilarious.
