The Texas Invasion

Last week we had a blast when the Engelhardt family came for a visit from Houston. Eric, Nirvana, and their son Peter (20 months) arrived on Sunday. Peter is absolutely adorable, and is CRAZY active. We were amazed that in just a few short months Waylon will be walking, running, and crawling all over the place just like Peter. He taught us that we need to get serious about baby proofing the house very soon!!! Waylon seemed to be fascinated watching all of Peter’s activities, and picking up tips for later.

On Monday we thought about going boating in Newport, but soon realized that would not work with 2 nap schedules, Waylon’s nursing needs, and other baby-related issues. Instead we went to the beach (see post below) and enjoyed a brief moment of overcast weather during the worst heat wave in years. On Tuesday we took off to Avalon on Catalina Island for a day of shopping, eating, and drinking. It was a fun day in Catalina, but again it was a reminder that life is definitely different with babies, since we had to keep taking turns walking, rocking, and entertaining the kids.

Nothing says summer time like pizza and beer before a day at the beach
Peter and Nirvana enjoyed the Pacific Ocean
How stinkin' cute are these boys?
While in Avalon, Aaron and I showed Waylon the Catalina Country Club where we got married
Eric and Aaron, dreaming about their college days of partying...
...The reality--they are now 30-something dads
