Aquarium of the Pacific

On January 19, the Davis family packed up and headed up to Long Beach for the kids' first aquarium visit. Thankfully we got there early before the massive crowds rolled in. We assumed Waylon would enjoy himself and Avalon would be dragged along for the ride. We were wrong. Waylon was interested in the fish and marine mammals, but his favorite thing was the outdoor boat that the kids could crawl around. It was actually Avalon that went bananas for the exhibits. Once we let her out of the stroller she lunged for the aquariums and was delighted by each fish. She screamed when we pulled her away. While Waylon was too shy to put his hands in the water tanks, Avalon dove right in. Overall it was a very fun few hours, and we will definitely be back.
Waylon ran from exhibit to exhibit with Daddy trailing behind, grasping onto the monkey leash for dear life.
This is where we thought Avalon would spend the day, but that did not last long.
Daddy and Waylon check out the fish. I did not realize you weren't supposed to take flash photography until the end of our visit. Oops.

Here is the boat/play area that Waylon loved. Once he learned that this existed we had a very hard time getting him to go anywhere else.
Avalon supervises the feeding of the deadly lorakeets. Seriously, these things are vicious. Each time they got within 2 feet of Waylon he would screech and throw down the lorakeet food.
Avalon dove into the hands-on exhibits.
Lunch time!
Our very picky eater enjoys french fries.
Once Avalon was out of the stroller she started crawling up and pulling herself up to check out the fishes for herself.
