Waylon's First Day of Kindergarten!

Waylon hit a HUGE milestone in September--starting "real" school.  I was prepared to be a total, emotional mess, but I pulled through with flying colors and Waylon did even better.  He is attending a spanish immersion school with 80% of his day in Spanish.  Not surprisingly, his favorite part of the day is when he switches to a new classroom for "English" class.  However, he never really complains about being spoken to for most of his day in Spanish.  He was extremely sad to be away from his best friends, Ryan and Jonathan (and the other Preschool buddies), who attend our home school.  It nearly broke me heart to see him so sad.  However, he has really bonded with 2 friends at school:  Rylan and Grayson, and things seem to have improved dramatically.  As I write this in December, he is NOT a spanish super star, but he isn't complaining and that is a good sign!

My big boy!
Avalon insisted on a photo as well before she went to preschool, continuing in the Forest Room with her favorite teachers, Ms. Amelia and Ms. Mina.  We could not be happier with her wonderful class!
Clearly mommy and daddy were much more emotional than our Bubba.

Signing in.  Waylon does this each day, and often has to answer a question in Spanish such as indicating which shape comes next in a pattern.
Headed in for his first day.  His teacher for the first 3 months was Seniorita Elder, who was a long term sub, and very nice.  His real teacher, Senora Noguez, just returned from maternity leave and thankfully there has been a smooth transition.
Silly guy waiting for everyone to come into the class.
Principal Nelson welcomes all of the Kinder kids and parents on the blacktop.  I am beyond thrilled that he attends a school with a uniform.  So cute!
Walking to class behind his future BFF, Grayson.
