In September we planned our last adventure to Catalina, and were thrilled to be joined by Aaron's college friend, Marcus, and his adorably pregnant wife, Lisa. They were total troopers staying at our "rustic" island abode, and it was a blast to share the weekend with them. We are hoping for a longer visit very soon.
We were supposed to leave for the Island in the afternoon, but our schedule changed, and we thought we could make an earlier boat. We threw our luggage and the kids in the car, raced to San Pedro, and just missed the boat. With several hours to wait until the next boat, the kids and I headed to the LB Aquarium while Aaron did some work from a Starbucks nearby. It turned into a very nice day. We seem to have finally rounded a corner where its possible for one parent to manage both kids, even in a crowded area.
Much more daring with the killer (over fed) lorakeets during this visit to the Aquarium.
Front row for the seal and sea lion show.
Dinner at Bubba Gump shrimp! The food was terrible, but at least Waylon had plenty of shrimp (his favorite food).
Why not dig in a sandbox in your bathing suit? Life in Catalina is good for the Davis kids.
Lisa and Marcus arrive!
Aaron loved showing off the Whaler to Marcus, a true aficionado.
We made Aaron climb aboard the trash barge, called the Salad Bowl. Aaron spent a summer driving this boat. He says its the best job he ever had.
Waylon, Daddy, Avalon, Me, Lisa, and Marcus prepare for the Italian party. Aaron and I were "working" in the kids area, but we had the only kids there so it was pretty easy work.
Avalon sidled up to the ladies playing dominoes and jumped right in, stealing their snacks and loving the attention.
Walking from FJYC to the Isthmus. Earning our large lunch at Doug's Harbor Reef restaurant.
