Waylon started T-ball this year, and he loves it!!! It helps that his best buddies are all on the team, and his dad was the assistant coach. When it started I was a little leery of the whole situation since there was practice each week plus a game. However, the practices were fun (lots of mommy chatting), and the games were adorable. Unlike soccer, Waylon was assigned to a team (the Phillies), and he seemed to really thrive in a team sports environment. Everyone had so much fun Waylon and Aaron still "practice" sometimes on the weekends.
Coach Jonathan (Ryan's dad) on the left, and Aaron on the right have a chat with Ryan and Waylon. Lets just say that they could get a bit squirmy while they waited to bat.
The warm-up.
The warm up run was about 20 yards. Waylon cheated and turned around early. I do not think he is going to be a track and field star.
Waiting to bat (they are sitting on their buckets).
Waylon's taking off!
Rounding 2nd base.
High fivin' coach Mike (Tanner's dad) at 3rd base.
In position. He was quite the 2nd baseman and shortstop. Although every kid wanted to be first base because the kids always threw to first no matter where everyone was.
Coach daddy kept an eye on Waylon. The participation by the dads on our team was fantastic! Our coaches far outnumbered those on other teams, and it really showed. I think it made the kids enjoy the experience more.
Waylon was not the great hitter that we expected, but he definitely improved. By the second half of the season they started doing coach pitch, and we were all surprised that the kids really rose to the challenge.
I love this photo! Note all of the kids running towards the ball. Later in the season they got better at realizing who was close enough to go after the ball.
"Good game, good game, good game!"
Waylon & Ryan
