In the middle of last week we decided to take Waylon and Avalon for their first official "amusement park" adventure. To get a newborn and a toddler out the door takes a lot of pre-planning, but we did it! We took off early for the Irvine Park Railroad, and were able to enjoy a train ride, duck feeding session, and pony ride before getting Waylon home for his nap. Overall the day was a success, but I learned a lot about what "gear" you need when you are travelling with two kids. Next time our trip will definitely involve the double stroller and/or the baby carrier. Lugging around the infant car seat to the duck pond was not exactly fun for mommy. However, seeing how much fun Waylon had made everything worth it!

I could not believe that my baby was old enough for a pony ride (closely monitored by daddy), but there he was like a total cowboy chillin' on the mini-horse

Waylon got two laps around the pony track, but with daddy's "safety susie" pace, it still took awhile.

Waylon did not want to get off the pony at the end of the "ride," but luckily he did not pull one of his new almost-two-tantrums

Waylon enjoyed watching us feed the ducks, but it was quite awhile before he would actually throw food at them

Its always fun to realize what excitement there is in something as simple as feeding ducks when you are 22-months-old

Waylon's little head almost exploded when he saw the "choo choo"--it was all daddy could do to contain him for this photo

You can see on his face how excited he was just to sit on the train--you can imagine his joy when we were actually moving!

I think Waylon would have ridden the train all day if we'd have allowed it (or if he could have figured out a way to do it without us).

I dont think Waylon blinked during the train ride
