Family Day at the Aquarium of the Pacific

Aaron had a week off before he started his new job in September. He spent a lot of quality time with the kids, and I took a day off so we could enjoy a day at the aquarium without the insanity of weekend crowds. Apparently the aquarium is insane during the week as well, but we still had a great time. We are now members of the AOP and can go for quick visits with the seals, or watch Waylon's favorite--the undersea divers.

Avalon was a wild woman, running all over the aquarium--outside and in.
Waylon went straight for his favorite area, the outdoor boat playset.
We are total gluttons for punishment and went in to visit with the lorakeets (aka flesh eating birds). Seriously, these animals are vicious! They take no prisoners, and we are dumb enough to drag our two children inside.
"Sissy, touch the flesh eating bird, it will make a cute photo!" What could go wrong?
This is hard to see, but Avalon thought the monster birds were hilarious. They thought she was a walking appetizer.
I I held the lorakeet food, making me the target of their viciousness. Waylon was wise and enjoyed watching the birds from a safe distance.
This picture was taken just before the lorakeet realized I was out of food. Run for your lives!
Phew! We made it out of the lorakeet cage alive.
Snack time!
Waylon enjoyed seeing the fish, but kept asking to go back outside and play.
Avalon liked the fish...
...but she REALLY liked crawling all over everything.
What better way to cap our family day out than with lunch at Chilis?

We loaded the kids up at the Aquarium gift shop so that we could survive lunch and the drive home...it worked!
