Walking (and other updates)

Sorry about the very long intervals between each blog update, but its been really busy around here. Waylon started the very slow process of learning to walk, starting about a week after his first birthday. I've heard about kids that suddenly look around, let go of whatever they are holding, and walk. That wasn't Waylon. Our little guy started out with one step, a few days later he did two, and every few days he would walk independently a little further. He is now fully walking, but is still wobbilly. He has had A LOT of near misses, and last week he had quite a few hits. My heart breaks in two every time he gets hurt and he does the silent, open-mouthed scream. However, watching him walk around is amazing--he looks like a drunk Charlie Chaplin, and for some reason he likes to cruise around with his hands up around his head (apparently this helps you balance?!?). Its hard to capture in pictures, but here is a pretty good series that shows him making progress across the living room.
