In June Waylon proved that my age stagnation device is not working. He keeps getting older despite my efforts to keep him little. He graduated from Pre-K with a totally adorable ceremony at the church across the parking lot from his preschool. The kids even received a diploma, and a raging party afterwards (if you count punch and cookies in an overcrowded room a rager). Grandma and Grandpa Davis as well as Uncle Matt and Erin Rae joined us for the big event. It is a bit anti-climactic to write about this in November (spoiler altert--he is already in Kindergarten).
The processional in. I am not going to lie, I had tears in my eyes.
All three classes: Desert Room (Waylon's), Forrest Room, and Rainbow (half-day kids).
All of the songs had lots of hand movements. Our big guy (who looks like a 2nd grader) is in the very back with the hand held highest.
His name is called!
He sucessfully navigated the "bridge," smiled right at the camera while I was elbowing parents out of the way, and safely walked forward just as my camera snapped.
Erin Rae, Uncle Matt, Avalon, Grandpa, Me, Waylon, Aaron, and Grandma Josephine.
Hint: taking a family photo with cookies and punch a few feet away = bad photo of distracted kids.
Avalon showed off the "housekeeping" center to Erin and Matt.
Waylon with his primary teacher, Ms. Tamara
Waylon and his neighbor/buddy/fellow Desert Room graduate, Abby
Waylon and Sydney. Funny to think they are so young, but have known each other so long.
Princess Avalon could no longer stand Waylon getting all of the attention.
The graduate--a big boy, but not too old to love balloons!
Back at home Avalon gave her brother a big "congratulations" hug (after she changed into proper Snow White hugging attire).
