On July 1, the kids' school had a beginning of summer carnival, which was very sweet and "homey." Much like this summer, the evening was very cool and overcast, but fun was had by all! They even had pony rides, which Waylon loved (especially walking the horse), but Avalon wanted nothing to do with the ponies. Everyone loved all of the food and games, including a cake walk and face painting. The event reminded me of Halloween carnivals at Tumbleweed Elementary (yes, my school was called Tumbleweed--I was a proud Tumbleweed Tornado).

Riding the pony (midget horse) is fun, but...
Leading the horse around the parking lot is even better!

Waylon and one of his two best buddies, Ryan. Waylon moved to the Desert Room (from the Jungle Room with Ryan) and the two are now separated. However, Waylon is doing well with the change, and seems to really enjoy the structure in his new, "older" room. The boys still have a lot of fun together on the playground.

Avalon's favorite--face painting!!! We were not allowed to wash her face that night, and she was very sad when it all wore off.
